Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas

Milt Stevens

I date my fannish career from joining LASFS in 1960. For the first few years, I didn't do much and didn't annoy much of anybody. Then I got into fannish politics. I was president of the LASFS in 1971. I was also on the board of directors from 1972 to 1984, and was chairman of the board for seven of those years. Numerous investigations were never able to prove a thing. I also became involved in running conventions. I was chairman of the first Loscon (LA 2000) in 1975, chairman of Westercon in 1980, and co-chairman of worldcon in 1984. Upholding the long tradition for worlcon chairmen, I got a divorce right after the convention.

I've also done some fan writing over the years. Most people think I write funny, although some people think I write humorously as well.

Professionally, I retired from the LAPD Crime Analysis Section in 1998 and have only worked for them occasionally since then. My police experience has left me with a large assortment of funny stories about death and dismemberment. I'm on the program because I am very opinionated and can be counted on to have an opinion on any subject whether I know anything about it or not.
